Declan Hughes is Assistant Secretary General in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, with responsibility for enterprise innovation and inward investment policy. Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) is identified in Housing for All as having potential to help boost productivity and increase efficiency in the construction sector and Declan chairs a new interdepartmental MMC Leadership and Integration Group overseeing the cohesive integration and coordination of the various government initiatives to support innovation in the construction industry. These initiatives include the Construct Innovate Technology Centre (CTC) consortium led by the University of Galway, the Demonstration Park for MMC and the National Construction Training Centre at Mount Lucas operated by LOETB, Build Digital and Enterprise Ireland’s Built to Innovate supports for residential construction firms.
