Dr. Trevor McSharry is Head of the School of Building and Civil Engineering at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), where he leads academic innovation at the intersection of construction, technology, and industry collaboration. With a background in both multinational industry and higher education, he has been instrumental in developing Ireland’s largest suite of online, part-time programmes in civil engineering and construction, in partnership with Irish Water, the Department of Transport, TII, and the SCSI.
A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland, Trevor is a recognised leader in digital education and workforce development. He has played a key role in shaping Ireland’s civil engineering apprenticeships and is committed to future-proofing the sector through agile, industry-informed learning pathways.
Trevor holds an MBA from DCU, a Postgraduate Certificate in BIM and the Digital Environment, and is a certified Project Management Professional. His Doctorate in Education from Maynooth University (2024) focused on change leadership in higher education, and he has published internationally on change management, lean methodologies, and digital transformation in construction.
He has served as a director of Lean Construction Ireland (LCi) since 2018 and is currently its Treasurer.
